How to send attachments on gmail iPhone/iPad iOS.

Using Gmail on your iPhone? Need to attach a document for your recipient? Here is how you do it:

– Create a new email
– Use the paperclip icon in the top right of the compose window
– From there you can attach three different ways:

1) from your camera roll / photos
Note that you can embed the image which means that the recipient may have a hard time seeing the image as it will get scaled to fit the email.

Click on the photo then ‘send as attachment’ so that they get the original file.

2) From your iPhone / iPad

This option allows you to enter the Files app on your phone and attach from your Downloads folder, iCloud Drive or any other file that an app has saved on your device.

3) From Google Drive

This method is preferred as it uses the least space / quota on your account. This is because it sends a link to the file in your Google Drive, not the actual file itself (which takes up storage space in your account). Sending a link in Google Drive also means better security (as you control who can view or edit it), and its less likely to end up in spam (if the file contains suspicious content for example, even if you know it doesn’t).
