In this video we show you how to set up Gmail to send from a group that is set up in Google Apps.
I’m going to show you how to send email from a group account, inside of Google Apps.
So, how do you do it? It’s fairly straight forward. You need to obviously make sure that you’ve got the group setup, and that you have access to the email that comes in from that group. Once you’ve logged into Gmail, go to settings, and then you’re going to go to accounts, and once you’re at accounts, you’re going to click ‘Add another email address that you own.’
In this case we’re going to setup [email protected], and we’re going to request that it’s treated as an alias. In other words, I don’t need a whole separate account to be able to send from this. So we’re going to click next, and what it’s going to do is it’s going to send us an email to [email protected], and then we’re going to have to have to verify that email address. So let’s click ‘Send verification.’ Now, you can see that it’s waiting for a verification code, we can also see that, that email address has come in now as another option for us to send mail, if we go to the inbox we can now see that we’ve got an email to confirm that I’m allowed to send from projects email address.
Confirmation code is up the top here, so I can take that confirmation code and paste it into the other window. I’m going to click verify, and what will happen now is that when I go in compose some mail, I will have 2 options. So by default I will be [email protected], and I can choose to send from projects. You’ll notice that my signature will disappear because I have a different account. So let’s close that for a second.
Let’s go back to the settings and see what’s happened. Now underneath accounts I’ve got two Gmail accounts that I can send from. If I always want to send from that [email protected], I can click ‘Make default,’ and that will set that to be the email address that I always send from. Projects. So again, we go back and I hit compose, and it’s going to my default the [email protected] I can now also go create different signatures for those accounts. So, let’s have a look at the [email protected], that’s the one I’ve already got, I’m going to copy that. I’m going to put it into project like this, and just paste it in, and just to make it different we’re going to put projects in the end there. Scroll down the bottom, hit ‘Save’, and now let’s have a look at what happens when I compose.
There’s projects and you can see I’ve got projects there as well. Change recipient, go to Renato and you can it just says renato. There you go, hope you enjoyed, nice and quick and easy, have a good day.
