With my second leaving from McGrath the time has come where work no longer supply my computing power, so it was time to get something for home. Without knowing what I was doing I had a look at Mac’s for a suitable laptop and I think that may well be my next computing purchase, but not for a while, I would also have to run OSX and Windows on it for work purposes. I digress, so I figured from a value for money point of view I should get a desktop – power, nice screen, better posture etc. and I went off and looked and off the shelf stuff. Dell, HP etc pretty much couldnt convince me, so I visited a place in the city that turned out not to be a dodgy Thai knock off computer store, but a genuine reputable nerd establishment, with some very high quality geeks working in it (think overclocking and quad core 0Db cooling). This is what I came out with:
- Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 (good for overclocking, and processors that not even Bill Gates can afford)
- Antec Sonata 2 Case (its very VERY quiet)
- Zalman CNPS9500 LED Cooling fan (for keeping it cool man! Also has adjustable fan speed on outside of case, and blue LED for extra cool points)
- Gigabyte GV-NX76T256D-RH Graphics Card (doesnt even support VGA, just twin DVI)
- BenQ FP222W monitor (22 inch, 5ms response time)
- Intel® Core™2 Quad processor Q6600 @ 2.66 GHz
- 4Gb RAM
You know what? It kicks ass! Photos. Thanks to Adam at Ecom computers Sydney.
