If you havent heard already Firefox is taking the world by storm as the new Internet Browser to rival Internet Explorer. Developed by Mozilla – who claim that “Firefox empowers you to browse faster, more safely and more efficiently than with any other browser.”

I have now been using firefox for at least 6 months and its great – much friendlier than IE and allows you niceties such as tabbed browsing and increased security when browsing the internet.

Once you download FireFox and install it you can employ extensions written by nerds to help your experience along the way. Here are a couple of extensions that I really recommend as a must.

First is Tabbrowser Preferences and this allows you to have many internet sites open in the same Browser application. Its pretty much unlimited until you cant see the tabs any more, but this means that you dont hog up your taskbar (the bar along the bottom of the screen holding all your apps) and your machine uses less memory proportionately.

Second is Download Manager Tweak which changes the popup download box into a tab – yet again less another window to have to deal with!

Third is Customize Google – Firefox has a handy search box in the top left of the application. You can search Google and Google Images, Yahoo, Amazon, Dictionary.com, Ebay etc. With this extension you search in Google and you get links to search in Ask Jeeves, and other engines as well, without having to remember the address.

If you are a developer on the internet then you cant go wrong with the WebDeveloper Toolbar – it contains loads of tools in one handy package.
